This uncirculated violin bow, made by William Watson for W.E. Hill & Sons in London in 1958, represents the ultimate of English bow making and decorative beauty, including the polished tortoise-shell frog, intricate gold fleur-de-lys inlay, chased (engraved) gold fittings, whale-bone grip and beautiful octagonal Pernambuco stick. This is a true collector's bow, and even still has the original 1958 hair. A new rehair is offered with the sale, but some collectors wish to have the bow left in the absolute original condition. The weight is 60.6 grams. Because this bow has components made from tortoise-shell and whale baleen, this bow cannot be carried or shipped outside of the United States. The purchaser of this bow should never travel internationally with this bow for fear of confiscation at any number of customs checkpoints. hillcollection
