Attend the tonal comparisons of contemporary Italian violins, violas, & cellos.

Tues, Feb 18 at 8:30pm - Viola Tonal Comparison with Jenni Seo

 

Wed, Feb 19 at 7pm - Violin Tonal Comparison with Andrés Cárdenes

 

We will receive the instruments from Italy around February 15. Exhibition instruments will be available for in-store trial before and after the tonal comparisons Tu-Sat, 10am-6pm. Please call in advance to make an appointment. After the tonal comparison, instruments may be checked out for home trial for up to three days.

About the Musicians

Jenni Seo: 

Korean violist Jenni Seo is a compelling and versatile soloist and chamber and orchestral musician known for her rich sound and artistic integrity. Before joining the LA Phil, she was Assistant Principal Viola for the Minnesota Orchestra and a member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she is a frequent substitute violist with the New York Philharmonic and has toured with the orchestra internationally.

Andrew Shulman:

Andrew Shulman, virtuoso cellist and conductor, is principal cellist with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and cellist with Los Angeles Piano Trio. He enjoys a richly varied career as recitalist, soloist, chamber musician, conductor and pedagogue, maintaining a flourishing studio at the USC Thornton School of Music. 

Andrés Cárdenes:

Cuban-born Cárdenes has garnered international acclaim from critics and audiences alike for his compelling solo violin, conducting, viola, chamber music, concertmaster and recorded performances. Since capturing the second prize in the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition in Moscow, Cárdenes has appeared as a soloist with over 100 orchestras on four continents.
