JACQUES CAMURAT

Born in 1927 in Madrid Spain, Worked circa. 1957-1990 in Paris France. Trained with Amedee Dieudonné in Paris. but worked almost all the rest of his life in France, firstly with Paul Baur in Angers. In 1947 he moved to Paris and worked for several years in the workshops of the great Parisian and international expert Vatelot. Established his own workshop at 49 rue de Rome in 1957. Retired in 1990, succeeded by his sons Pascal and Bernard.

The violin which we offer here, was made in 1959 and is a fine testament to just how great and skillful a maker Jacques Camurat was. The crafting of the whole of this Strad inspired violin is of the highest order and it is covered in a beautiful soft, light, red-brown oil varnish . It is in an almost perfect state and has a rich, vibrant tone of great quality and resonance.
