This uncirculated violin bow, made by Arthur Copley for W.E. Hill & Sons in London in 1957, represents the ultimate of English bow making and decorative beauty, including the polished tortoise-shell frog, gold Parisian eyes, gold fittings, whale-bone grip and beautiful octagonal Pernambuco stick.
Joining the Hill firm in 1917, Copley was initially employed in the case shop. He was promoted to the bow shop in 1920, and continued his work there for nearly 40 years.
This is a true collector's bow, and even still has the original 1957 hair. A new rehair is offered with the sale, but some collectors may wish to have the bow left in the absolute original condition with original hair. The weight is 61.6 grams. Because this bow has components made from tortoise-shell and whale baleen, this bow cannot be carried or shipped outside of the United States. The purchaser of this bow should never travel internationally with this bow for fear of confiscation at any number of customs checkpoints. hillcollection
