Thomas Dignan has been engaged in the craft of bow making for almost 40 years.
He is located in Boston, close by Symphony Hall and the New England Conservatory.
This close proximity to these fine institutions has given him the opportunity to see and study many fine and rare bows made by the top French masters of the 19th and 20th centuries.
This experience has provided the foundation of his career in bow making. Copying bows made by Tourte, Peccatte and Sartory have led to the evolvement of his own personal style of bow that is represented here.
Using choice pernambuco wood he gathered in Brazil many years ago, fine grained ebony, precious metals
and mother of pearl, Thomas creates bows of exquisite beauty, sound and playability.
Over his career Thomas Dignan has earned 17 grand prizes in Europe and America including three gold medals for his outstanding work.
