The back of this violin is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by a very attractive, narrow-width flame, which slants slightly downward from the center joint. The wood on scroll is similar to that of the back, while that of the ribs is less highly flamed. The grain of the two-piece spruce top is straight and very narrow, widening slightly toward the flanks.

The instrument is covered with a warm, reddish-brown varnish, over a golden-brown ground. It is attractively antiqued and shaded by the maker. This instrument is in excellent, brand new condition.
