Renting an instrument is a practical and affordable way to explore music or manage professional travel. Steps to Rent an Instrument

We aim to make the rental process smooth and efficient. Here’s how you can prepare:

  1. Download Forms:

    • Call the shop to schedule an appointment
    • A rental appointment takes about 30-45 minutes.
    • We’ll help you select the right size, finalize the paperwork, and provide tips on care, maintenance, and optional insurance.
  3. Required Documents:
    • Bring a driver’s license or passport and two credit/debit cards for the recurring charges.

Rent-to-Own Program

  • First Three Months: Apply 100% of your initial three months' rent toward the purchase of the rented instrument or one of equal or greater value.
  • Extended Rentals: If you continue renting and decide to buy later, 50% of all cumulative rental payments are credited toward your purchase.

 

Rental Policies

  • Payment Methods: Two valid credit/debit cards are required to keep on file. If you only have one, additional identification may be necessary.
  • Automatic Renewals: Rentals are charged automatically to your card at the beginning of each rental period.
  • Damage Protection: For a small fee, our Protection Plan covers damage to the instrument or bow (excluding theft or broken strings).

 

Please note that if you opt out of our Protection Plan, we will note the condition of the instrument, bow, and case at the time the items are first rented. They must be returned to Metzler Violins at the end of the rental period in the same condition as when received. If damage is noted, a repair and/or devaluation charge will be due at this time, and may be charged to your credit cards on file, unless other payment forms are authorized. You, the renter, are responsible for excessive wear, warped or broken bridges, damaged or very dirty varnish, as well as for more obvious damage such as scratches, cracks, dents, chips, and broken bows. You must not attempt any repairs yourself on equipment rented from Metzler Violins, nor have any other person or shop repair our equipment without our permission.
