Work introduction:
Tonal Poems for violin and piano.
Poemas are sound poems filled with imagery and tonal colors working together to create a broad spectrum of emotions set in a short period of time. They are enriched with harmonic extensions, melodic architectures, form and stylistic elements often found in Classical, Jazz, Blues and other music genres. In Poemas, each of the individual parts serves as though the “verses” in a literary Poem; independent and yet necessary for the function of a greater organism. Because the piano part is not just a mere “piano accompaniment” to the violin line, I recommend the violinist become acquainted with it in its entirety. These scores refrain from the excessive use of dynamics, articulations, etc… so to allow the performing artist experience their own emotional journeys with absolute creative freedom.
Luis Rosalebron was born in Aguadilla Puerto Rico in 1971 to a family of amateur musicians and music lovers. His father was a heavy machinery operator, inventor and clarinetist. In 1993 received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Puerto Rico. In 1994 he joined the Unite States Army Band system as keyboard player. In 2000 joined the faculty of Fullerton College, California as Collaborative Artist and Vocal coach. In 2007 he graduated with a Masters degree in Piano Pedagogy from California State University at Fullerton. Mr. Rosalebron is an avid collector of fine musical instruments and music-related memorabilia. He is also an expert in the history of pianos as well as a reputable piano restorer.
