Contemporary Cremonese violin by Raphael Le Cointe, 2003

Raphael Le Cointe was born in Lorient, France in 1973. In 1994 he graduated from the MilanMunicipal School of Lutherie and continued on to apprentice in Paris as well as New York. From1998 to 2005 he worked at the shop of Mathijs A. Heyligers in Cremona.In 2005 he opened his own workshop, where he builds and restores fine instruments. Le Cointe established his own workshop in 2005 where he mainly makes new instruments, inspired by the great Cremonese School of the classical period.
The violin features a rich coat of orange brown varnish which also lends it a lovely modern aesthetic. The back is crafted from two pieces of medium-narrow flamed maple, slanting upward from the center joint. The beautiful figuring of the wood can be seen from the ribs all the way to the elegantly crafted scroll. Study of the Cremonese masters is evident in the finely detailed execution of the sound holes.
The clear and full sound of this outstanding contemporary Italian is fully open to nuance and its even tone sings across all registers.
The printed interior label reads: Raphael Le Cointe, Cremona anno 2003, per Heyligers ViolinHouse. The Heyligers Violin House, founded by Master Luthier Mathijs A. Heyligers after he moved to Cremona in 1975. The Heyligers Master Violins, Violas and Cellos are made following the classical Cremona tradition and are very well renowned.
The violin is in excellent condition.
