This instrument is part of our 7th annual Contemporary American Makers Exhibition, 2024

Kurt R. Jones started his luthier training at the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City. He worked in the Peter Prier and Sons Violins shop while attending school. Kurt has worked in close association with Rafael Carrabba in Seattle, Washington in and out of the shop for the past thirty years. Most recently he worked on a Carrabba Violins project as a senior restorer repairing the General Kyd Stradivarius cello.
 

Kurt R. Jones Violins was created in 1991 and over the years Kurt has made 41 cellos and over 120 violins. In the past two years he has retired to warmer climates in Honolulu, Hawaii and is actively playing fiddle in three Celtic bands while enjoying all the prestige awarded to part time Irish musicians.
