I am a Tustin Orange County California based Violin & Bowmaker. I graduated from Chicago School of Violin Making in 2011, and returned to Seoul to start learning instruments restoration from Kevin March. After a few years, I moved to Strad Musical Instrument, which is also serves as Brompton’s Asia, and worked as a instruments restorer until I immigrated to the United States of America in 2018. I gradually learned restoration skills by interacting with makers who were involved in making and restoration in Cremona, Newark, Chicago, and Seoul. For making bows, while working the Strad shop, I went to bowmaker J.B Lee’s shop, which is the Korea agent of Jean-François Raffin. While learning to make bows at J.B Lee’s shop. I learned a lot from the bowmaker Yongje Song, who is VSA Gold medalist and operates his own shop in Seoul. After coming to the United States of America, I continued to learn about bow making by interacting with other makers through social media and various events. Since immigrating to the United States of America in 2018, I have been preparing to work as a violin & bowmaker rather than a restorer, and I have been making bows under the name of K. P. Lee since moving into Tustin California in 2020.
