Jonathan S. Franke began his career in violin making in 1985. After many years as a Master Tool and Die Maker, he started to focus his skills and experience on the task of building quality violin family instruments. Franke's background as a skilled master craftsman has proven to be a great asset in the art of violin making. Each of his instruments is created with the goal of being true to the best of the Cremonese tradition. Franke has won numerous awards for workmanship and tone over the years. In 1992, Franke moved to Monroe, Oregon, where he opened his present shop. He builds instruments full-time from a hilltop shop overlooking the Willamette Valley.
This violin responds quickly and is easy to play. Its broad tone is even across all registers and would blend well in an orchestral or chamber setting. The violin has a dark, reddish-brown varnish with minimal antiquing and a one-piece back.
