John Osnes violin #158 with two-piece back, 2022, Anchorage, AK

John has studied the violin from an early age and has played in the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra, the Anchorage Opera, and many other Alaskan groups including several touring 
folk/rock bands. 
 
He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Chemical Engineering and worked in that field for two years before shifting his focus to instrument making and performance. 
 
He operated a violin shop in Anchorage, Alaska for over 40 years and now focuses his attention on building new instruments. As of 2023 he has completed 161 violins, 
64 violas, and 69 cellos. His production also includes two Viol da Gambas, two mandolins, and several guitars.
 
At this stage in his life he performs only for the house cat, Rachel, and several chickens who all seem to appreciate his eclectic renditions of classical, jazz, and folk violin playing.
