James began playing violin at age 12 and was fascinated with how the violin worked. At the age of sixteen James met a local luthier, Clair Lundin who was an emigrant from Norway and founder of Lundin Violins. Clair became a friend and then a mentor, teaching James his trade of making and repairing stringed instruments.
Over the years, James repaired and sold violins with the skills he was taught, eventually making own violins. Making violins has remained a passion for him and he has dedicated a great amount of research and time to perfect his violins. James carefully crafts each violin using hand selected traditional European woods and computer sound analysis to achive precise plate tuning.
Customers often comment how much they love the incredible volume, the rich open sound and abundant overtones.
