This 4/4 Henri Delille Deluxe violin has a clear, sweet, and refined sound. It is very mellow and even across all four strings.
This violin bears an interior H. DELILLE brand, and a printed label that reads:
Fabricato Nello Studio di liuteria
[Guadagnini 1757] Henri Delille
Anno Domini [Deluxe], No. 140
The back is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by narrow-width flame. The wood on the ribs and scroll is similar to that of the back. The grain of the two-piece spruce top is straight and narrow, widening slightly towards the flanks.
The instrument is covered with a warm reddish-brown varnish, over a dark gold ground. The varnish is lightly shaded and antiqued by the maker. This instrument is in new condition.
