The back of this violin is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by medium-width flame, which slants downward from the center joint. The wood on the ribs is similar to that of the back, while the wood of the scroll is more narrowly flamed. The grain of the two-piece spruce top is straight and narrow, widening slightly toward the flanks.
The instrument is covered with a warm, orange-brown varnish, over a golden-brown ground. It is antiqued and shaded by the maker. This instrument is in excellent condition.
