“The back is formed from a single piece of willow and is marked with various small pin knots and other irregularities and a ‘cut off marching pin’ located in the center between the upper corners. The willow wood of the sides is similar to that of the back while the head is of beech wood and has been grafted to the maple neck. The table is spruce with medium grain in the center becoming broader at the flanks. The varnish is a burnt-orange-brown color over an almond ground and has been slightly worn back and antiqued in simulation of age. The instrument was made on the pattern of Giuseppe Guarneri fillies Andrea and worked vigorously in the manner of Giuseppe del Gesu circa 1735. This instrument is in an excellent condition.”
