Gervasio Barreiro was born in Buenos Aires in 1980. In 2000 he traveled to Europe, and enrolled in the Cremona Lutherie school, Italy: IPIALL "Antonio Stradivari".

In 2001 he obtained a scholarship from the "fondazione W. Stauffer". He graduated from the school in 2004, under the guidance of Master Luthier Lorenzo Marchi. Contemporaneously with the school, he took improvement courses, organized by the "Regione Lombardia and IPIALL". At the end of these, he trained  at "Bottega di liuteria" (Grisales), where he built his first cello.

In 2006 he moved to Buenos Aires and opened his own workshop.

In 2009 he went to the Isaac Fernández Blanco Museum of Hispanic American Art, where he became acquainted with the Collection of Notable Instruments and participated as an assistant to Master Luthier Horacio Piñeiro during the restoration of the collection. He is the Museum's Resident Luthier.

In 2011 he was appointed President of the Argentine Association of Luthiers.

In 2014 he entered the permanent staff of the Teatro Colón in Bs.As, with the position of "String Luthier".
