My passion and curiosity in violins, violas and cellos began in 1988 when I apprenticed to Jennifer Becker at Carl Becker and Son in Minneapolis. In a traditional, old-world way, I learned repair and restoration skills and techniques at the bench alongside master craftsmen. When my skill level advanced, I assisted Carl Becker in his shop in Chicago. Exposure to fine, classical instruments enhanced my appreciation and understanding of how instruments function and how best to maintain them for current and future players. My journey in repair, restoration and violin making continues as I try to unravel the mysteries of fine instruments and share my passion with players of all skill levels and needs.
