Ernst Heinrich Roth (1877–1948) was a German luthier and master of a large and successful violin-making workshop in the East German town of Markneukirchen, near the current border with the Czech Republic. This violin was made under the direction of his grandson, Ernst Heinrich Roth III, in the West German town of Bubenreuth, where the Roth Firm moved from East Germany in 1952. Despite over 40 years of age, this violin is in perfect condition, and ready for the next appreciative owner!
