Dimitri began making violins in 2002 and studied making and restoration in the U.S., France, and Italy. He attended violin restoration classes with Jean-Jacques Fasnacht and Iris Carr and bow restoration classes with Lynn Armour. Dimitri is also an accomplished concert violinist, and was a former concertmaster of the Auckland Philharmonic.
In 2011, Dimitri’s instruments were awarded 5th and 6th place at the International Violin Making Competition in Pisogne, Italy. He exhibits his instruments regularly at the Shanghai Music Expo and Cremona Mondomusica.
In 2013, Dimitri opened his workshop on Corso Garibaldi 133 in Cremona, Italy, about 200m away from Casa nuziale di Stradivari. His violins are played in Europe, the U.S., Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.
