Born in 1874 in Jonava, Lithuania. Made first violin in 1890. Moved to Baltimore in 1900, and opened a shop there. Made instruments based on a Strad model until 1925, and thereafter used his own personal model. Made his own golden reddish-brown oil varnish. He made more than 400 violins, 20 violas, and 28 cellos. This violin is an excellent example of his work, and is in good, lightly repaired condition.
