Boveda 2-Way Humidity Control Kit, small

Boveda 2-Way Humidity Control Kit, small

$22.99
Code: ACBOVR

Boveda's 2-way humidity control technology automatically protects your wooden instrument against warping, cracks and other damage caused by lack of humidification or too much humidification. Boveda maintains a constant 40%-50% relative humidity level within your instrument's (closed) case.

Improper guitar storage is the greatest constant danger to the condition of an instrument. Until Boveda, humidified storage meant refilling awkward and unreliable sponges, snakes or discs. Those products only work 1-way, they add humidity whether it's needed or not, while Boveda is the world's first 2-way humidity control.

If not properly stored in a stable environment, your instrument will lose the specific geometry built into it while it was being crafted at the climate-controlled factory. This can cause warping or shrinking, which will change the tune at the least and cause damage at the most. In fact, most repair problems with wooden instruments can be avoided with properly humidified storage from Boveda.

Each Boveda consists of a specially prepared saturated solution of pure water and natural salts. This saturated solution is contained within a water-vapor permeable "reverse osmosis" membrane.

Boveda provides the cleanest and most purified humidity of all other products available on the market today.

Seasoning: If you're just getting started using Boveda or if you're starting with a very dry case, you can expect that the first set of packs won't last as long as subsequent packs. The reason is simple, most guitar cases have twice as much wood as your guitar does. All of that wood needs to be humidified!

We recommend seasoning your guitar case first for best results. It's the same idea and process as seasoning any wooden humidor. Simply place 4 Boveda 72% RH packs in your case and wait about 2 weeks, or until the packs become hard, whichever comes first. The moisture from the Boveda will absorb into the wood of your case and make your 49% RH Boveda packs last longer.

*Do not mix different Boveda RH levels within the same container, and do not use Boveda in the same container with other humidification products. They will fight against each other and reduce the efficiency of the Boveda.

One might expect that if you use a high RH Boveda in the same container as a lower RH Boveda that you'll achieve an environment somewhere in the middle. That is not the case, instead the moisture just transfers back and forth between the Boveda packs.
