Arlie Moran is a 20th century American maker. Over his career he was based in both Fresno & Hollywood, California. Moran worked for Hans Weisshaar in Hollywood as a specialist varnish retoucher.
This violin has reddish-brown varnish. The top has a wide grain with antiquing and the two-piece back has narrow flame running straight from bout to bout. This violin has a sparkling, warm tone that would make it an excellent instrument for chamber playing.
