Alexandre Lefrancois is a contemporary French maker working for the Aubert Lutherie company. Aubert Lutherie started as a bridge manufacturer in 1867 and the company started making violins in the 20th century. The company continues to make fine violins that are handmade by skilled craftsmen such as Alexandre Lefrancois.
This violin has reddish-brown varnish, the top has narrow grain, and the two-piece back has beautiful, subtle antiquing. The tone has the power of a contemporary violin and the sweet complexity of a mature instrument. This violin’s carrying, sparkling tone would be well-fitted for solo or orchestral playing.
