Description:

The back is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by medium width flame. The wood of the ribs and scroll are similar to that of the back, with the scroll being more narrowly flamed. The two-piece spruce top has straight and wide grain, widening more at the flanks, with slight clawing above the treble side F-hole. The instrument is covered in a gold-brown varnish that has been antiqued by the maker, revealing a pale gold ground beneath. The cello is in excellent condition.
