As a son of an orchestral violist and a violinist Anton first became interested in the construction of violins in 1976 when his father opened a violin making workshop in Dnepropetrovsk . In 1990 Anton moved Moscow to work and study with the two most important luthiers in Russia; Pavel Schutz and Anatoly Kochergin. At this time Anton had access to instruments by many of the great masters including Amati Stradivarious, Guarneri Del Gesu, Bergonzi and among others as Anatoly Kochergin was in charge of taking care of the Russian National Collection at that time.
Subsequently Anton apprenticed in the shop of Nahoum Tukh in Tel Aviv for five years restoring fine instruments and bows, while continuing to develop as a violin maker before immigrating to Winnipeg, Canada in 2002. After working at Croft Music for three years Anton opened his own shop “Violins By Anton” in 2005. Where he builds, maintains and restores instruments.
In 2014 Anton’s viola was awarded The Certificate of Merit for tone at the Violin Society of America Competition.
Anton’s instruments are currently in use in concert halls in Germany, Russia, The Ukraine, France, the United States, Israel, and Canada.
