About the Maker
Marinos Glitsos is a professionally trained luthier residing in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His background as a cellist provides a deep understanding of the many nuanced demands musicians require of their instruments. His violins, violas, and cellos are created to meet these exacting needs while honoring traditional woodworking methods and techniques.
After earning a degree in Music Performance Marinos served as an apprentice with prominent lute maker Daniel Larson of Duluth, Minnesota for two years. He then went on to enroll and complete the program at the prestigious Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, Utah where he studied under award winning violin maker Sanghoon Lee. Upon graduating from violin making school Marinos was invited to work alongside luthier John Waddle in his Saint Paul, Minnesota workshop for two years. During this time he worked in collaboration with radiologist Dr. Steve Sirr who pioneered the use of CT scanning in the violin industry. Since 2018 Marinos has divided his time between working alongside esteemed luthier Peter Bingen at the Paul. A. Schmitt Violin Shop in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota and the construction of new violins, violas, and cellos which he creates from his home studio in Saint Paul.
