John Uglow cello with horse-head, 1934 Dallas, Oregon

John Uglow cello with horse-head, 1934 Dallas, Oregon

$1,500.00
Code: CL#5588

Description:

If you’ve visited our shop in the past, you have likely noticed this unusual instrument on display near the front door. Fondly referred to by the Metzler team as “The Horse Cello,” its label actually describes it as a Viola da Gamba, although it is currently set up to be played as a cello. In reality, it is not an ideal instrument to be played in concert due to its large size and non-traditional shape. However, with its beautiful craftsmanship and stunning horse-head scroll, it would make for a great art display in one’s home, just as it has at our shop for many years.

Measurements:

Length – 82.4 cm
Upper Bouts – 38.0 cm
Middle Bouts – 23.5 cm
Lower Bouts – 45.5 cm
String Length- 69.3 cm

Article number: CL#5588
