This 4/4 Franz Sandner violin has a mellow, round, warm tone.

The back is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by medium-narrow width flame, which slants downward from the center joint. The wood on the ribs and scroll is similar to that of the back. The grain of the two-piece spruce top is straight, medium-narrow, and even.
The instrument is covered with a warm orange-brown varnish, over a pale gold ground. It is lightly shaded by the maker, and is in excellent condition.
