Description:

This 4/4 Christian Wilhelm Seidel violin has an outstanding tone quality that is warm, powerful, full, and responsive.

It bears an interior Seidel brand, and has no other label.

The back of this violin is formed from two pieces of quarter-cut maple, marked by narrow-width, irregular flame. The wood on the ribs and scroll is similar to that of the back. The grain of the two-piece spruce top is straight, narrow, and even.

The instrument is covered with a beautiful dark brown varnish, over a warm golden-brown ground. It is beautifully naturally antiqued and shaded with age, which we estimate to be circa 1870. This instrument is in good condition.
