Description: This German violin bears a printed label that reads:
Fecit Venetia An19 [C.L.V.]
This violin has a bright, even, resonant sound.
The back is formed from one piece of quarter-cut maple, marked by narrow-width flame, which slants slightly downward toward the treble end. The wood of the ribs is slightly more widely flamed, and that of the scroll is even wider. The two-piece spruce top has straight, very narrow-width grain that widens toward the flanks. There is a shallow brand on the back of the scroll that reads G1237. The instrument is covered with a light golden-brown varnish, which is shaded to reveal a pale gold ground. The violin is in very good condition.
